“It Happens to Me, I tell, I prevent” was a project led by Corporación Humanas in collaboration with Fondo Alquimia. The initiative aimed to reduce gender-based violence in the Metropolitana and Valparaíso regions of Chile. It focused on violence committed in public spaces and public institutions, and sought to support women who are especially vulnerable to public violence, including those with disabilities and those living with HIV/AIDS, as well as lesbian, bisexual and transgender women.
Main findings of the evaluation:
- 80 per cent of local organizations involved in the project said they had increased their capabilities and acquired new tools to prevent and raise awareness of gender-based violence.
- All the local organizations reported that the project had successfully raised awareness about gender-based violence.
- All the local organizations conducted analytical work from a perspective of intersectionality.
- The project boosted the reputation of the local organizations, increasing their visibility and making local governments aware of their experience and knowledge.
