Over the past month, the European Union and United Nations Spotlight Initiative (Spotlight Initiative) and the United Nations Trust Fund to End Violence against Women (UNTF EVAW) have been listening carefully to our grantees who are facing many challenges as they address ending violence against women and girls in the specific context of the global COVID-19 pandemic within their countries and communities. In a light of our overall analysis of received information and as an immediate response, we are pleased to announce a new allocation of USD 9 million for immediate support to the work of all of our existing grantees (44) in Sub-Saharan Africa - with a primary focus on the institutional response, risk mitigation and recovery in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On 9 March 2018, in the run-up to the 62nd session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women (UN Trust Fund) and Shiva Foundation will host a one-day conference at UN Women Headquarters to map spaces for collaborative efforts between NGOs, Governments, the private sector and the UN system to tackle human trafficking and modern slavery.

Sixteen inspiring UN Trust Fund-supported organizations were in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina last week, sharing their experiences of delivering services to women survivors of violence in 10 countries and territories in Europe and Central Asia. They were joined by NGOs from Bosnia and Herzegovina, partners from the Norwegian, Swedish and Swiss Embassies, and UN staff.

An eye-catching Orange Label, the result of a partnership between the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women (UN Trust Fund) and the UK-based London College of Fashion, will soon adorn a variety of garments and other goods around the world. The label, designed by students at the college, symbolizes a commitment to a bright future free from violence against women and girls.

On 20 September 2016, at the 12th and final Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Annual Meeting, the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women (UN Trust Fund) joined No Ceilings: The Full Participation Project, an initiative of the Clinton Foundation, Vital Voices Global Partnership, WEConnect International and a coalition of more than 30 core partners from the public, private and multilateral sectors, to announce a series of Commitments to Action aiming to advance the gender equality targets of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
