25 years of the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women
For 25 years, the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women (UN Trust Fund) has leveraged its unique mandate through partnering with UN Member States, UN agencies, civil society and women’s rights organizations to deliver upon one mission: ending violence against women and girls globally. Since 1996, the UN Trust Fund has expanded its work in scope and in depth to ensure no woman or girl is left behind.
This year, as the UN Trust Fund marks 25 years, you are cordially invited to join in commemorating this 25-year long journey of grant-giving, of support to civil society and women’s rights organizations, and of commitment to making the right of women and girls to live a life free of violence a reality for all.
Centered in the voices of civil society, women’s rights organizations and survivors of violence, the event will spotlight the key role these organizations play as drivers of the ending violence against women agenda and reiterate the need to continue resourcing their work at this critical time of collective recovery from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on women’s rights globally.
The speakers will include high-level statements from UN officials as well as reflections from prominent civil society and government representatives to reaffirm our collective commitment to championing local and grassroots interventions directly serving the needs of women and girls.
