Women for Afghan Women implemented a three-year project, “Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence in Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and Returnee Communities (PARGIRC)”, with the support of the UN Trust Fund. The project aimed to improve access of vulnerable populations to essential, safe and adequate multi-sectorial services. The final evaluation found that the project raised awareness about gender-based violence and helped survivors to access legal assistance and psychotherapy.

The project “Comprehensive Intervention to Guarantee Access to Justice for Women Victims of Gender-Based Violence”, implemented by ACDemocracia, was funded from February 2016 to February 2018 by the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation found that strategic partnerships – in this case with national and local authorities – were crucial to the project’s successes, which included improved access to justice for survivors of violence and a new law.

The UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women provided funding for “Women’s Empowerment in Afghanistan and Tajikistan for Displaced Persons through Legal Aid and Training to Combat Violence against Women” initiative from January 2013 – November 2015. The evaluation found the most significant change to be the increasing awareness of women’s rights and SBGV in Afghanistan.
