To address widespread female genital mutilation (FGM) in Tanzania’s Serengeti District, AMREF Health Africa ran the “Female Genital Mutilation Elimination Project in the Serengeti District” from January 2016 to December 2018, an initiative supported by the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation found that the project significantly increased awareness of the adverse health effects and the human rights aspects of FGM among girls and young women.

The project “Give Payment Not Abuse: Protecting Informal Women Traders in Dar es Salaam from Violence against Women”, implemented by Equality for Growth Limited, was funded by the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women from January 2015 to December 2017. The final evaluation found that the project contributed to a better trading environment for female market traders.

The project “Comprehensive Intervention to Guarantee Access to Justice for Women Victims of Gender-Based Violence”, implemented by ACDemocracia, was funded from February 2016 to February 2018 by the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation found that strategic partnerships – in this case with national and local authorities – were crucial to the project’s successes, which included improved access to justice for survivors of violence and a new law.
