Women for Afghan Women implemented a three-year project, “Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence in Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and Returnee Communities (PARGIRC)”, with the support of the UN Trust Fund. The project aimed to improve access of vulnerable populations to essential, safe and adequate multi-sectorial services. The final evaluation found that the project raised awareness about gender-based violence and helped survivors to access legal assistance and psychotherapy.

The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Cameroon implemented a three-year project, “Making Violence against Women and Girls History in the Northwest and Southwest Regions of Cameroon”, with the support of the UN Trust Fund. The project aimed to ensure that women and girls in the two regions were better protected from violence and empowered to realize their right to live free from violence. The final evaluation found that the project helped make women more aware of gender-based violence, more willing to talk about it, and more confident to approach legal services to demand justice; and were advocating for the promotion of their rights.

STEWARDWOMEN implemented the three-year “Strengthening Provision and Coordination of Services to Survivors of Rape and Early/Child Marriage in South Sudan" project in 2019-2022 with the support of the UN Trust Fund. The project aimed to provide services, raise awareness and provide information to survivors of rape and early/child marriage from a rights-based perspective, and enhance the institutional response capacity of STEWARDWOMEN during the COVID-19 pandemic and future crises. The final evaluation found that the project achieved its objectives.

In the State of Palestine, the Stars of Hope Society implemented the "HEMAYA” project in partnership with the Social and Economic Policies Monitor (Al-Marsad) with the support of the UN Trust Fund for over three years in 2018-2022. The project aimed to support women and girls with disabilities who were survivors of violence in the West Bank and Gaza Strip to safely access adequate and appropriate support services. The final evaluation found that the project’s strategy was highly relevant and achieved significant changes for women and girls with disabilities. 

The Centro de Promoción y Defensa de los Derechos Sexuales y Reproductivos (PROMSEX) implemented the three-year project “No more invisible women: against trafficking, sexual exploitation and sexual violence in informal mining areas of Madre de Dios and Piura” in Peru between 2019 and 2022 with the support of the UN Trust Fund. The project aimed to improve access to comprehensive and multisectoral responses that consider aspects of prevention, care and access to justice, as well as access to health and protection services, for women, adolescents and young survivors of human trafficking or violence affected by illegal mining in Madre de Dios and Piura. The final evaluation found that the project increased access to comprehensive and multisectoral responses that consider aspects of prevention, care, access to justice and public services.

Woman Forum Elbasan (WFE) implemented the three-year project 'Improved access for women and girl survivors of violence in Elbasan Region’ in Albania, with the support of the UN Trust Fund between 2018 and 2021.

Cambodia Women’s Crisis Center, in partnership with ADD International, implemented the project “Promoting Women’s Dignity” with support from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The project aimed to improve quality service delivery, develop policy and promote positive changes in attitudes in five provinces.

Between April 2017 and April 2020, the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women funded the “Ranavalona Project: prevention, care and access to justice for girl survivors of sexual exploitation in Madagascar”, implemented by ECPAT France. The project primarily targeted 97 child survivors of sexual exploitation through a psychosocial and socioeconomic reintegration programme. The final evaluation found that the project’s strategies were successful and particularly efficient.

Kvinna till Kvinna received funding from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women to implement the project “Women human rights defenders’ holistic approach to end gender-based violence in a challenging context in Lebanon” in partnership with two non-profit Lebanese organizations – KAFA and Association NAJDEH. The final evaluation showed that the project was significantly relevant to the local context.

The UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women funded “Addressing Violence Against Syrian Refugee Women in the Kurdistan Region of Northern Iraq”, a project implemented by Women for Women International . The project aimed to support women affected by conflict, including Syrian refugees, members of the host community, and internally displaced populations in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah. The evaluation found that the project was effective and improved the lives of the intended beneficiaries.

From January 2016 to January 2019, the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women worked with the National Network for the Promotion of Women (RNPM), helping fund its project “Older Women who have Experienced Violence Exercising their Rights”. The final evaluation found that the project was largely successful, and through its training and empowerment strategies it reached 415 women who had experienced gender-based violence.

The UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women provided funds for the Autonomous Women’s Center’s project “No Tolerance for Gender Based-Violence” between January 2016 and December 2018. The initiative disseminated information, changed individual attitudes, raised awareness about gender-based violence, and facilitated advocacy activities. The final evaluation found that the Center increased youth understanding of gender-based violence and contributed to changing boys’ attitudes about it.

The International Institute of Rural Reconstruction implemented the project “Stop Violence against Women and Girls in Samburu, Marsabit, and Isiolo Counties in Northern Kenya” from January 2016 to December 2018 with funding from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation found that the project increased awareness about the harmful effects of sexual and gender-based violence, and changed attitudes to female genital mutilation or cutting, beading and child marriage. The project also improved access to support for survivors of violence.

In January 2015, Alliance against Discrimination of LGBT People launched the two-year project “Reduce Violence against Women, with Focus on LBT community in Albania”, with the support of the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation found that the project improved the lives of LBT women experiencing violence, especially of those living outside the capital, mainly through improved and more integrated care.

ALAFIA received funding from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women to implement the project “Eradication of harmful customary widowhood practices that can lead to HIV/AIDS infection” in 24 villages in Togo. The final evaluation showed that the project ended degrading and humiliating widowhood rites against women in these villages and established the principle of equal sharing of inheritance between women and men.

The European Center for Minority Issues in Kosovo implemented the project "Empowering Minority Communities in Kosovo against Gender-Based Violence" between January 2014 and December 2015, with support from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation found that the project’s goals and outputs were achieved through consultation with project partners, cooperation with local stakeholders and input from paralegals.

The Multi-Sectoral Gender-Based Violence Response at the District Level in Nepal – led by the UN Population Fund and supported by the UN Children’s Fund; UN Women; and Nepal’s Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare – was funded by the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women and implemented from August 2009 to July 2013. The final evaluation concluded that increasing the awareness of existing information about rights, legal provisions and services related to gender-based violence has helped to address the issue effectively.

The project Preventing Exploitation, Abuse, Violence and Trafficking of Vulnerable Girls Through the Development of Effective and Accessible State Referral and Support Networks and Services, implemented by the Public Association Child Rights Center and the UK Children’s Legal Center from March 2008 to December 2011, was with support from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation concluded that the project contributed effectively to crucial changes in the national system of protection and rehabilitation of girl survivors of violence and girls at risk of violence.
