The UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women provided funds for the Autonomous Women’s Center’s project “No Tolerance for Gender Based-Violence” between January 2016 and December 2018. The initiative disseminated information, changed individual attitudes, raised awareness about gender-based violence, and facilitated advocacy activities. The final evaluation found that the Center increased youth understanding of gender-based violence and contributed to changing boys’ attitudes about it.

To address widespread female genital mutilation (FGM) in Tanzania’s Serengeti District, AMREF Health Africa ran the “Female Genital Mutilation Elimination Project in the Serengeti District” from January 2016 to December 2018, an initiative supported by the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation found that the project significantly increased awareness of the adverse health effects and the human rights aspects of FGM among girls and young women.

The UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women provided funds for the Association of Roma Novi Bečej from January 2016 to December 2018 to support its initiative “No More Victims ¬– Roma Women and Girls Respond to Violence”. The final evaluation found that the project significantly contributed to ending violence against women in Novi Bečej municipality, particularly through education and improved service provision.

From January 2016 to January 2019, the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women provided funds for the Provincial Secretariat for Health, Social Policy and Demography’s initiative “STOP–CARE–CURE: A Stronger Institutional Response to Gender-based Violence in the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina”. The final evaluation found the project improved protection against gender-based violence and established pilot centres for survivors.

The Institute for Development and Community Health in Viet Nam implemented the initiative “Prevention of Intimate Partner Violence against Pregnant and Lactating Women” in Kien Xuong district, Thai Binh province, from January 2016 to December 2018 with funding from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation found that the project improved knowledge, attitudes and behaviour in pregnant and lactating mothers, and increased the ability of communities and families to prevent violence.

The UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women provided funds for the project “Enhancing Responses to Violence Against Women and Girls in Cambodia” from January 2016 to December 2018. The goal was to make women feel safer and for survivors of violence to have better access to social and legal services. The final evaluation noted the improved attitude of service providers towards survivors.

The Rainbow Sky Association of Thailand implemented the project “The Empowerment and Capacity Building of Lesbian and Transgender Women to Mitigate Violence, Stigma and Discrimination based on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity” with funding from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation concluded that the project had positively influenced the government and increased the confidence and self-esteem of project participants.

The project “Comprehensive Intervention to Guarantee Access to Justice for Women Victims of Gender-Based Violence”, implemented by ACDemocracia, was funded from February 2016 to February 2018 by the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation found that strategic partnerships – in this case with national and local authorities – were crucial to the project’s successes, which included improved access to justice for survivors of violence and a new law.

The project “Community-based Intervention to Alleviate the Different Forms of Violence against Women and Women's Vulnerability to HIV”, implemented by Al Shehab Institution for Comprehensive Development, was funded from January 2015 to December 2017 by the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation found that the project raised women’s understanding of personal and structural violence, and improved their interaction with support services.

The project “Know Her Rights”, implemented by the Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development in Jordan, was funded from January 2016 to January 2018 by the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation concluded that collective action is needed to prevent violence against women, and that the project had successfully engaged various actors representing government, media, education and health.

In January 2015, Alliance against Discrimination of LGBT People launched the two-year project “Reduce Violence against Women, with Focus on LBT community in Albania”, with the support of the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation found that the project improved the lives of LBT women experiencing violence, especially of those living outside the capital, mainly through improved and more integrated care.

Care International in Cambodia launched the initiative “Safe Workplaces, Safe Communities” in December 2013, supported with funds from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation found that the project contributed to a better awareness of gender-based violence within the targeted workplaces.

Between January 2015 and December 2016, the Mongolian Women’s Fund (MONES) implemented the “Securing State Investment to Prevent Gender-Based Violence in Schools” project, funded by the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation found that the project changed boys’ and girls’ knowledge and perception of gender-based violence and helped them to acquire confidence in their right to enjoy a safe school environment.

Plan International received a grant from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women for its three-year project “Gender Responsive School Pilot Model” in Viet Nam. The final evaluation found that the project was highly relevant and efficient at capacity development in the 20 schools with which it engaged, improving knowledge and influencing government policies.

From December 2013 to March 2015, the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women provided funding to the Ukrainian Women Fund for its initiative “Young Girls Leaders Promote Strong Stand against VAW among their Peers”. The final evaluation found that the project strategies were particularly efficient in promoting ideas of gender equality and zero-tolerance to violence against women and girls.

Women’s Initiative for Gender Justice received a grant from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women for its project “Advancing Gender Justice in Countries under ICC investigation” from January 2013 to December 2015. The evaluation found that the project improved medical and psychological documentation of sexual assault, strengthened police investigations and increased the likelihood of justice and reparations for women and girl survivors of sexual violence.
