In Colombia, Corporación Con-Vivamos implemented a four-year project, “Women and men breaking the mould to eradicate sexist violence against women and girls in Colombia”, with the support of the UN Trust Fund and in association with five other local civil society organizations. The project aimed to transform social attitudes that normalize gender inequality and violence against women. The final evaluation found that despite structural and operational challenges, the project’s objectives were covered effectively and its activities were achieved.

In Guatemala, the Movimiento de mujeres indígenas TZUNUNIJA/IXTZUNUN implemented the “Mayan women and girls conscious, active and propositional in the prevention and de-naturalization of violence and femicide” project in 2020-2023, which aimed to end the diverse forms of violence affecting Indigenous women and girls and empower them to demand, enjoy and protect their human rights. The final evaluation found that the project contributed to an effective engagement with Indigenous authorities and helped to make the Guatemalan feminist movement visible to Indigenous women and girls advocating for women’s rights.

In Eswatini, Madagascar and South Africa, Gender Links implemented the three-year project “Sunrise Campaign: Local Action to End Violence and Empower Women” with the support of the UN Trust Fund. The project aimed to enhance gender-responsive governance at local levels, improve women’s economic empowerment through building entrepreneurial and life skills, and improve gender attitudes. The final evaluation found that the project’s objectives were covered effectively and its activities were achieved.

Al Shehab Institution for Comprehensive Development implemented the three-year project “Community-based intervention to alleviate the different forms of violence against women and women's vulnerability to HIV ‘Scale-up phase’” in Egypt’s capital Cairo between 2019 and 2022 with the support of the UN Trust Fund. This twice-funded project aimed to address women’s vulnerability to violence and HIV. The final evaluation found that the project’s objectives were covered effectively and its activities were achieved. 

In the State of Palestine, the Community Media Center implemented a two-year project "Stop violence against women” with the support of the UN Trust Fund. The project aimed to prevent and end violence against women through media outlets and social media sensitization. The final evaluation found that the project’s strategy was highly relevant and achieved significant changes in the targeted communities.

Peruvian Women's Centre Flora Tristán implemented the project “Indigenous women ‘My city, my space’: local answers to violence and discrimination” with support from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women for three years. The project aimed to reduce the risk of violence and racial/ethnic discrimination in public spaces for indigenous Amazonian women and girls in Satipo province. The final evaluation found that the project surpassed its goals.

The UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women funded Sahayog Society for Participatory Rural Development’s project “Partnering for Change” for three years. The project aimed to change gender relations and gender-biased social norms in order to increase gender equality and prevent violence against women. The final evaluation found that the project achieved significant changes in the target communities.

Between March 2017 and February 2020, LUKMEF – Cameroon received funding from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women to implement its project “Building Community Level Agenda to End Gender Based Violence in Cameroon”. The final evaluation found that the project led to significant positive changes in the lives of beneficiaries.

The UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women funded Muloma Women's Development Association’s three-year initiative “Engaging Men Through Accountable Practice (EMAP), To Prevent Violence Against Women and Girls” from March 2017 to March 2020. The project aimed to provide professionals with the resources, knowledge and skills needed to support survivors of sexual violence. The final evaluation concluded that a survivor-centred approach enabled the programme to achieve positive change in the target communities.

The UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women funded “Addressing Violence Against Syrian Refugee Women in the Kurdistan Region of Northern Iraq”, a project implemented by Women for Women International . The project aimed to support women affected by conflict, including Syrian refugees, members of the host community, and internally displaced populations in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah. The evaluation found that the project was effective and improved the lives of the intended beneficiaries.

In March 2017, the Association Malienne pour le suivi et l’orientation des pratiques traditionnelles néfastes (AMSOPT) launched the initiative “Information and Sensitization against the Practices of FGM/C and Child Marriage in 30 Villages in Kayes Region”, supported by funds from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation found that the project contributed to a public commitment to abandon FGM/C and child marriage in 26 villages, and that the dialogue established between youths and adults on FGM/C and child marriage allowed an open and frank discussion on sensitive issue in the target communities.

The Women’s Studies Centre in the State of Palestine implemented the project "AMAN – Combating Sexual Violence in the Palestinian Society" between January 2016 and December 2018, supported by funding from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation found that the project increased awareness of school-aged girls on what constitutes sexual harassment and abuse, and left school-aged girls and boys better able to identify channels to report harassment and abuse.

Between January 2016 and December 2018, the Africa Alliance of YMCAs implemented the project “A Real Man Is” in Zambia and Kenya, with funding from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation found that the project left women and girls feeling safer and better protected from violence, and increased the engagement of men and boys in initiatives aimed at protecting women from physical and sexual violence.

The UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women funded Grassroot Soccer’s initiative “SKILLZ Street Plus”. The project aimed to improve the ability of girls aged 13 to 16 to choose intimate partners who respect gender equality and to prevent and address violence in their lives. The final evaluation concluded that the programme was well implemented, with coaches efficiently delivering school-based sessions.

Bangladesh Nari Progati Sangha implemented the project “Safe Schools Safe Communities” between January 2014 and December 2016 with grant support from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation found that the project succesfully addressed the specific needs of girls to allow them to be empowered and protected from gender-based violence in their schools and community.

In January 2015, Alliance against Discrimination of LGBT People launched the two-year project “Reduce Violence against Women, with Focus on LBT community in Albania”, with the support of the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation found that the project improved the lives of LBT women experiencing violence, especially of those living outside the capital, mainly through improved and more integrated care.

Between January 2015 and December 2016, the Mongolian Women’s Fund (MONES) implemented the “Securing State Investment to Prevent Gender-Based Violence in Schools” project, funded by the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation found that the project changed boys’ and girls’ knowledge and perception of gender-based violence and helped them to acquire confidence in their right to enjoy a safe school environment.

Breakthrough Trust implemented the project “Preventing Violence: Change Starts Now in India” with support from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation found that a critical assessment is needed to transform increased awareness against sexual harassment and domestic violence into action.

Plan International received a grant from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women for its three-year project “Gender Responsive School Pilot Model” in Viet Nam. The final evaluation found that the project was highly relevant and efficient at capacity development in the 20 schools with which it engaged, improving knowledge and influencing government policies.

Voice for Change implemented the project "Advocacy on Ending Violence against Women" between February 2013 and January 2016 in Jiwaka province of Papua New Guinea, with funding from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation found that the project significantly increased awareness through its training programme, and that the project became stronger and more resilient owing to direct community engagement.
