Women’s Affairs Technical Committee implemented the three-year project “Gender Justice to End Violence against Women and Girls” across four governorates in the West Bank of the State of Palestine with the support of the UN Trust Fund from 2018 to 2021. The project aimed to address violence against women and girls by improving access to formal and informal justice systems for survivors of violence, focusing on refugee and internally displaced women and girls. The final evaluation found that key judicial actors as well as community-based women leaders and practitioners had gained enhanced capacity to detect and respond to cases of gender-based violence and provide referral services, and media advocacy campaigns increased the visibility of such violence and promoted the agency and rights of women and girls to access justice.

Refugee Consortium of Kenya implemented the three-year project “Towards Improved Prevention of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Among Urban Refugees Project” in Nairobi and Garissa counties, with the support of the UN Trust Fund, from 2018 to 2021. The programme primarily aimed to enhance community-based support for women and girl survivors of violence, particularly refugees and asylum seekers; improve reporting and conviction rates of gender-based violence cases; and strengthen the coping mechanisms and practical skillsets of survivors. A final evaluation revealed that the project substantially increased the knowledge and awareness of gender-based violence among women and girl survivors, as well as key judicial, medical, official and religious actors, which in turn improved survivors’ perception of self-worth, their confidence in institutional mechanisms, and their ability to seek and access support.

STEWARDWOMEN implemented the three-year “Strengthening Provision and Coordination of Services to Survivors of Rape and Early/Child Marriage in South Sudan" project in 2019-2022 with the support of the UN Trust Fund. The project aimed to provide services, raise awareness and provide information to survivors of rape and early/child marriage from a rights-based perspective, and enhance the institutional response capacity of STEWARDWOMEN during the COVID-19 pandemic and future crises. The final evaluation found that the project achieved its objectives.

With the support of the UN Trust Fund, the organization Dynamique des Femmes Juristes implemented a three-year project "Mettons fin aux VBG chez nous maintenant" (Let's end GBV in our country now) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo between 2019 and 2022. The project aimed to improve the safety of women and girls in North Kivu by addressing domestic violence, sexual violence and harmful practices such as forced marriage. The final evaluation found that the performance of the project was satisfactory, indicating that it was an outstanding success in many ways.

Woman Forum Elbasan (WFE) implemented the three-year project 'Improved access for women and girl survivors of violence in Elbasan Region’ in Albania, with the support of the UN Trust Fund between 2018 and 2021.

Leonard Cheshire Disability Zimbabwe implemented a three-year project “Access to Justice for Girls and Women with Disabilities in Zimbabwe” with the support of the UN Trust Fund. The project aimed to ensure that girls and women with disabilities have improved safety and access to justice. The final evaluation found that the project was successfully implemented through its strategic pillars of response and prevention.

In Myanmar, the Asia Pacific Network of Sex Workers working with Aye Myanmar Association implemented a three-year project “Community-based intervention to combat violence against sex workers” with the support of the UN Trust Fund. The project aimed to prevent violence against sex workers through improved services and community sensitization. The final evaluation found that the project was successful and that all targets were exceeded.

The UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women funded “Addressing Violence Against Syrian Refugee Women in the Kurdistan Region of Northern Iraq”, a project implemented by Women for Women International . The project aimed to support women affected by conflict, including Syrian refugees, members of the host community, and internally displaced populations in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah. The evaluation found that the project was effective and improved the lives of the intended beneficiaries.

As a part of a six-year project, the Victims Support Section of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia, in collaboration with the Transcultural Psychosocial Organization Cambodia and the Cambodian Defenders Project, implemented Phase 2 of the Non-Judicial Gender Project. The final evaluation concluded that the project significantly contributed to positive change in the lives of target groups through transitional justice activities and initiatives to improve their access to psychological services and rehabilitation.

From March 2017 to February 2019, the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women funded the project “For a Life Free of Violence for Women and Girls” run by Grupo Guatemalteco de Mujeres. The final evaluation found that the project strengthened Guatemala’s National Coordinating Committee for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Violence Against Women (CONAPREVI), and raised awareness about gender-based violence and accessing justice.

The project “Prevention and Reduction of Sexual Violence among Women Sex Workers in Guatemala” was implemented by Fundació Privada Sida i Societat with support from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation found that the project had empowered women with regards to sexual and reproductive rights.
