Integrated Disabled Women’s Activities (IDIWA) organization implemented the three-year project “Eliminating Sexual and Gender-Based Violence against Women and Girls with Disabilities” in Uganda with the support of the UN Trust Fund. The final evaluation revealed that IDIWA successfully carried out the planned project activities and made a significant contribution to systematizing the process and involving various actors to address and respond to sexual and gender-based violence against women and girls with disabilities and other women.

Women’s Affairs Technical Committee implemented the three-year project “Gender Justice to End Violence against Women and Girls” across four governorates in the West Bank of the State of Palestine with the support of the UN Trust Fund from 2018 to 2021. The project aimed to address violence against women and girls by improving access to formal and informal justice systems for survivors of violence, focusing on refugee and internally displaced women and girls. The final evaluation found that key judicial actors as well as community-based women leaders and practitioners had gained enhanced capacity to detect and respond to cases of gender-based violence and provide referral services, and media advocacy campaigns increased the visibility of such violence and promoted the agency and rights of women and girls to access justice.

STEWARDWOMEN implemented the three-year “Strengthening Provision and Coordination of Services to Survivors of Rape and Early/Child Marriage in South Sudan" project in 2019-2022 with the support of the UN Trust Fund. The project aimed to provide services, raise awareness and provide information to survivors of rape and early/child marriage from a rights-based perspective, and enhance the institutional response capacity of STEWARDWOMEN during the COVID-19 pandemic and future crises. The final evaluation found that the project achieved its objectives.

In the State of Palestine, the Stars of Hope Society implemented the "HEMAYA” project in partnership with the Social and Economic Policies Monitor (Al-Marsad) with the support of the UN Trust Fund for over three years in 2018-2022. The project aimed to support women and girls with disabilities who were survivors of violence in the West Bank and Gaza Strip to safely access adequate and appropriate support services. The final evaluation found that the project’s strategy was highly relevant and achieved significant changes for women and girls with disabilities. 

The Strategic Initiative for Women in The Horn of Africa (SIHA) Network implemented the “Challenging Patterns and Drivers of Sexual Violence Against Women and Girls in Wau State, South Sudan” for over three years in 2018-2021 with the support of the UN Trust Fund. The project aimed to promote positive shifts in attitudes, behaviours and practices around sexual violence against women and girls in South Sudan’s Internally Displaced Person (IDP) communities, resulting in both an end to normalization and increased condemnation of sexual violence. The final evaluation found that the project was successfully implemented. 

In Uganda, the African Partners for Child Poverty implemented a three-year project “Combating Stigma Against Sexual Violence Survivors and their Children in Gulu District, Northern Uganda” with the support of the UN Trust Fund. The project aimed to reduce stigma against women and girl survivors of sexual violence. The final evaluation found that, despite the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the project was successfully implemented.

In the State of Palestine, the Community Media Center implemented a two-year project "Stop violence against women” with the support of the UN Trust Fund. The project aimed to prevent and end violence against women through media outlets and social media sensitization. The final evaluation found that the project’s strategy was highly relevant and achieved significant changes in the targeted communities.

Women Centre for Legal Aid and Counselling implemented the “Promote women's access to social and legal services in the West Bank and East Jerusalem” initiative between March 2017 and February 2020 with support from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation found that the project provided a unique model of combined social and legal support to end gender-based violence.

The Women’s Studies Centre in the State of Palestine implemented the project "AMAN – Combating Sexual Violence in the Palestinian Society" between January 2016 and December 2018, supported by funding from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation found that the project increased awareness of school-aged girls on what constitutes sexual harassment and abuse, and left school-aged girls and boys better able to identify channels to report harassment and abuse.

Women’s Initiative for Gender Justice received a grant from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women for its project “Advancing Gender Justice in Countries under ICC investigation” from January 2013 to December 2015. The evaluation found that the project improved medical and psychological documentation of sexual assault, strengthened police investigations and increased the likelihood of justice and reparations for women and girl survivors of sexual violence.

The project Transitional Justice: Addressing Gender-Based Violence and Ensuring Women’s Participation was implemented by the International Center for Transitional Justice from November 2012 to October 2015, and received a three-year grant from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation found that this complex project in six countries achieved some results despite of a range of implementation challenges.

The project Integrated Governmental and Community Based Strategy for Response and Prevention of Violence against Women in South Sudan was implemented by the American Refugee Committee from September 2011 to August 2013, and received three-year grant support from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. The final evaluation found that the programme creatively engaged multi-sectoral service providers in the government and communities to respond effectively to gender-based violence issues by transforming attitudes and norms to the benefit of the entire society.
