Results from the Annual Grantee Surveys 2021-2023

The UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women (UN Trust Fund) conducts an anonymous annual grantee survey to gather feedback from its active civil society organization (CSO) partners. The survey is a critical tool for organizational learning and accountability, helping the UN Trust Fund refine its strategies and improve the services and support it provides to grantee partners. From 2021 to 2023, over 350 responses were received from civil society partners.

The survey is administered online and includes around 35 questions across the three output areas. Grounded in feminist principles and aligned with the UN Trust Fund's Strategic Plan (2021–2025), the surveys gather insights on:

  • The added value of funding from the UN Trust Fund.
  • Satisfaction with the services and support provided.
  • Challenges, gaps and opportunities to enhance the Fund’s strategy and implementation.

Insights

The insights provided by the surveys offer an evidence-based understanding of what works, what are the challenges and needs of partner organizations, and what is needed to enhance impact. This not only informs strategic decisions but also ensures that the Fund remains aligned with the priorities and realities of the organizations it serves. By incorporating these perspectives, the UN Trust Fund strengthens its ability to be a responsive and effective partner in ending violence against women and girls.

To ensure transparency and accountability, the UN Trust Fund produced a three-page summary of the data collected in the three surveys conducted between 2021 and 2023, which highlights key findings, trends and areas for improvement. Key findings include:

  • On average, 97% of respondents reported that UN Trust Fund support had improved their ability to implement projects in line with the programming principles of ending violence against women and girls.
  • In 2023, 100% of grantee partners reported that they had used UN Trust Fund knowledge to inform decision-making.
  • On average, 77% of grantee partners reported increased resilience, while 78% reported increased adaptability.
  • On average, 95% of respondents expressed satisfaction with the UN Trust Fund’s support and services.

Through the annual surveys, the UN Trust Fund reaffirms its commitment to fostering trust-based partnerships with CSOs, particularly women-led and community-based organizations, in the global effort to end violence against women and girls.
