A survey by the philanthropic Foundation Center found that in 2012, only 2 per cent of all human rights-related giving by private foundations is allocated to ending violence against women and girls. In other words, of every USD 100 raised for human rights, less than USD 4 is contributed to efforts to end violence against women and girls.

Discussions around the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development provide a pivotal opportunity to reposition the issue of violence against women and girls as a core human rights and development priority. An ambitious and robust finance package will be needed to turn these commitments into reality.

The UN Trust Fund is committed to advocating for adequate, sustainable funding for efforts to end violence against women and girls.
